Early Times Report VIJAYPUR, Dec 29: Government Degree College (GDC), Vijaypur celebrated Dogri Manyata Diwas to commemorate the historic inclusion of Dogri in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India, a milestone that crowned decades of sustained struggle by writers, scholars and language activists. To embrace the inclusion of Dogri, a lecture was organized and coordinated by the Dr Manoj Heer, HOD, Department of Dogri. He emphasized the importance of the Language as not just a means of communication-but it is the heartbeat of our culture, folklore, songs, traditions, and literature. When a language is recognised at the constitutional level: It strengthens cultural pride and self-esteem. It encourages scholarly research, literary creation, and educational inclusion. It enables future generations to connect meaningfully with their roots. He further added that celebrating this day reminds us of the responsibility we carry to promote, preserve, and propagate Dogri in all spheres of life. The principal of the college, Dr. Ashu Vashisht, appreciated the efforts of the Department of Dogri and emphasized the importance of celebrating Dogri Diwas. She highlighted that such programmes play a vital role in preserving linguistic diversity and strengthening cultural roots among students.
