| GDC RS Pura organises awareness programme on Disaster Management and Civil Defense | | | Early Times Report
RS PURA, Dec 29: An awareness programme on Disaster Management and Civil Defence was successfully organised by the Disaster Management Committee in collaboration with NSS Unit of Government Degree College, R.S. Pura on 29 December 2025. The programme aimed to sensitize students about disaster preparedness, response mechanisms, and the importance of civil defence in safeguarding life and property.
The programme featured expert resource persons Swarn Singh, Rajesh Singh, and Aman Singh (SDRF, 2nd Battalion Jammu), who delivered informative sessions on disaster risk reduction, first aid, emergency response, and community participation during natural and man-made disasters.
The speakers also shared practical insights and real-life examples, making the session interactive and engaging for the students. The entire programme was conducted under the able guidance of worthy Principal Professor (Dr.) Preetpal Kaur. She also addressed the gathering and delivered an enlightening lecture and stressed the importance of disaster awareness at the institutional level and encouraged students to remain vigilant, responsible, and prepared to act effectively during emergencies.
The programme began with the welcome address by Dr. Shivani Manchanda, Convener of the Disaster Management Committee, who highlighted the relevance of disaster awareness in today's changing environmental and social scenario.
The students actively participated in the programme and were benefited from the expert guidance provided by the resource persons. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Lukesha Dubgotra (Convener NSS) who expressed gratitude to the resource persons, organisers, and participants for making the programme a success. The programme was also attended by prominent faculty members. |
