Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 29: The Court of Principal Sessions Judge Udhampur, Virinder Singh Bhou, today convicted a foreign national of Myanmar (Burma) and sentenced him to two years' imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 10,000 in a case arising out of FIR No. 33/2024 registered at Police Station Udhampur. The accused, Mohd. Shah Jalal, was tried in the case titled UT of J&K vs Mohd. Shah Jalal for offences under Section 3 of the Indian Passport Act and Section 14-A of the Foreigners Act. The court also directed the Superintendent, District Jail Udhampur to take up the matter with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for initiating the deportation of the accused to his native country after completion of legal formalities. Hemanshu Parkash, Public Prosecutor, and Vinay Sharma, Additional Public Prosecutor, represented the prosecution during the proceedings. —(JNF) |
