| SSP Joginder Singh, briefs media on overall crime position at DPL Jammu | | District Jammu Police - Year 2025 Review | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 31: SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, JKPS presented a brief overview of the crime situation, law and order scenario, and key policing outcomes including innovative measures taken for Safer Jammu by District Police Jammu during the year 2025,in a press conference held at DPL Jammu Overall Crime Position During 2025, 4,134 FIR's were registered in District Jammu - the lowest figure in the last five years. In the same period, 5,122 cases were disposed off, including 1,968 old cases and 3,154 new cases, making it the highest disposal in the last five years. The reduction of 288 cases is due to effective preventive action, PSA and PIT-NDPS detentions,proper bail contesting,bail cancellation appeals, proactive policing, 208 preliminary enquiries under Section 175 BNSS, and sustained deployments during Operation Sindoor and flash-flood duties. This reduction reflects crime prevention, not under-reporting. *Crime Against Property* Property worth approximately Rs 20 crore was reported stolen during the year. Property worth around Rs 10 crore was recovered, achieving an overall recovery rate of about 50 percent, the highest in the last five years. Special teams focused on burglary, vehicle theft, wire theft and cattle theft, leading to improved detection and recovery. Organised Crime & Gangsters/hardcore criminals Focused action was taken against organised criminal networks: l123 hardcore criminals/gangsters identified l59 FIRs registered against gangsters l67 gangsters/hardcore arrested l49 illegal weapons recovered l73 FIRs registered under organised crime provisions l01 accused detained under UAPA lA zero-tolerance policy against organised and habitual offenders was strictly enforced. *War Against Drugs* (Operation Sanjeevani) Under the district's intensified anti-narcotics drive: l204 NDPS FIRs registered l309 persons arrested l11 detained under PIT-NDPS l48 convictions secured l04 properties attached l23 drug-linked,illegal structures demolished by administration lRecoveries included over 15 kg's heroin worth 60 Crores in the international market, 78 kg ganja, 114 kg poppy straw, capsules and opium. Large-scale destruction of seized narcotics was carried out under Section 52-A NDPS Act. Supply-chain investigations led to 12 FIRs and 36 arrests across Jammu, Punjab, Kathua, Udhampur and Rajouri, using a strong administrative and financial investigation approach. *Security & Anti-Terror Measures* There is no active terrorist presence in District Jammu. To maintain this security environment: l541 CASOs l1,093 LRPs were conducted during the year. Operational incentives included 06 out-of-turn promotions, 18 SPOs converted to constables, and Rs 24 lakh in rewards. *Implementation of New Criminal Laws* Effective implementation of New Criminal Laws was ensured: lE-Sakshay cases increased from 588 to 9,988 lE-Summons from 480 to 12,125 l60/90-day investigation compliance improved from 21% to 41% l25 E-FIRs and 47 Zero FIRs registered l126 trials in absentia l208 preliminary enquiries l574 FSL visits to secure proper forensic,credible evidences in cases. Virtual court attendance institutionalised Cyber Crime During 2025: l36 cyber FIRs registered l708 complaints disposed Financial relief achieved: lRs 5.26 crore refunded lRs 6.69 crore lien-marked 746 mobile phones recovered, worth about Rs 1.75 crore & handed over to rightful owners in the District *Community Policing & Capacity Building* A total of 1,656 community and awareness programmes were conducted, covering PCPG meetings, Thana Diwas, drug and cyber awareness and youth engagement. Over 6,000 police personnel were trained in New Criminal Laws, NDPS, cyber crime, counter-terrorism, law and order, and digital policing. *Major Events* All major events in 2025 - including Republic Day, Independence Day, SANJY, BANJY, Bye-Elections Nagrota, major melas and VVIP visits - were managed peacefully without any major law and order incident. Conclusion District Police Jammu remains committed to maintaining peace, crushing organised crime and drug networks,Zero-terrorism policy, enhancing transparency, and advancing technology-driven policing.
