Divisional Level Training on Digital Crop Survey launched in Jammu

Jammu, Jan 2: The Directorate of Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, today organised a Divisional-Level Training and Capacity Building Programme for officers on Digital Crop Survey (DCS) at the Conference Hall, Krishi Bhawan, Talab Tillo, Jammu. The programme is being conducted by the Joint Director Agriculture (Extension), Jammu.
The training programme was presided over by Director Agriculture Jammu, Shri Anil Gupta, and was attended by Joint Director Agriculture (Extension) Jammu, Shri Sanjay Anand; SMS (RL), Shri Dharmesh Vaid; DAO (Extension), Samba, Shri Harvinder Singh; District Horticulture Officer, Samba, Shri Revti Raman Sharma; Programme Officer, Shri Gurbaksh Singh; and Technical Officer, Shri Sandeep Dogra, besides officers of the Agriculture Department.
Addressing the officers, Director Agriculture Jammu, Shri Anil Gupta, emphasised the importance of digital technologies in transforming the agriculture sector. He stated that the Digital Crop Survey is a flagship initiative under AgriStack, being implemented in Jammu & Kashmir, aligning with the Government of India’s vision of digital transformation of agriculture. He further added that the Digital Crop Survey is a crucial initiative for generating accurate and real-time crop data, which will significantly aid in improved planning, enhanced transparency and effective implementation of farmer-centric schemes. He urged the officers to ensure meticulous field-level implementation of the survey to achieve the desired outcomes and strengthen the agricultural data ecosystem.
In his address, Joint Director Agriculture (Extension) Jammu, Shri Sanjay Anand, highlighted the operational aspects of the Digital Crop Survey and underscored the role of field functionaries in ensuring data accuracy and timeliness. He called upon the officers to actively engage with farmers during the survey process and to adhere strictly to prescribed protocols for reliable and standardised data collection.
The divisional-level training programme will be conducted from January 02 to January 21, 2026, with the participation of Agriculture Department officers from all districts of the Jammu Division. On the first day, officers from District Samba were imparted training, and similar training programmes will be organised for officers of the remaining districts during the coming days up to January 21, 2026.
