Education is the backbone of any society. It not only develops the knowledge and skills of an individual, but also shapes the thinking, direction and future of society. But today when we look at the appearance of education, it is clear that it is going through a deep change - where there are expectations, challenges and many questions. From traditional education to modernity There was a time when the meaning of education was limited to books, guru and class. Discipline, Ratanta Vidya and exams were considered to be the measure of success. Today, the scope of education has become widespread. Instruments such as digital classrooms, online courses, smart boards and artificial intelligence are giving new direction to education. Now learning is no longer limited to school or college, but has reached home, mobile and laptop. Increasing influence of technology Technology has played a big role in making education democratic. Online platforms also gave students from far and wide access to quality education. E-learning, video lectures and virtual labs made learning more interesting and flexible. But along with this, the problem of digital divide has also emerged. Even today, there are many children who do not have internet, smartphone or proper resources. In such a situation where technology is a boon for some, while it is also becoming a new obstacle for others. Growing rift between education and employment The biggest challenge of today’s education system is that it is giving degrees to students, but not being able to give the necessary skills for employment. The gap between book knowledge and practical life is constantly widening. For this reason, a large number of educated youth are unemployed. Now there is a need for education that is skills -based, experiential and problem -solving. Changes in the role of teacher Earlier the teacher used to be the only source of knowledge, today he is playing the role of a guide and mentor. In the age of technology, the teacher’s job is not only to teach, but also develop thinking ability, moral value and curiosity in students. For this, continuous training and respect of teachers is very important. Mental health and education Competition, race of marks and career pressure are having a profound effect on the mental health of today’s students. The appearance of education cannot change completely until it makes children not only successful, but also balanced and sensitive humans. This requires that life skills, art, sports and mental health give proper place in the curriculum. New education policy and expectations The new education policies emphasize multilingual learning, creative thinking, flexibility and local contexts. If they are applied correctly at the ground level, then the appearance of education can really change - such education that is not a burden but joy. conclusion The appearance of education stands at a crossroads today. On the one hand there are technology, innovation and new opportunities, on the other hand problems like inequality, unemployment and mental pressure. The need is that education should not be seen only by linking it with exams and jobs, but to consider it as a process of human construction. When education will start thinking, understanding and making responsible citizens for society - then its appearance will really be able to get it. Dr. Vijay Garg Retired Principal Malout Punjab |
