| VDC member commits suicide in Kishtwar | | |

Jammu, May 21
A Village Defence Committee (VDC) member allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle at a remote village of Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir, sources said.
A 40-year-old VDC member, identified as Jaffu Ram son of Hem Raj resident of Pullar Padyarna committed suicide at Pullar village, about 35 kilometers from Kishtwar town, sources said.
Reportedly, the VDC member took extreme step after some dispute with his spouse, who had left him some days ago and was putting up at her parental house.
Sources said Jaffu Ram had gone to his in-laws house to persuade wife to return but she refused. The dejected husband, Jaffu Ram, shot himself on the way back to his residence yesterday, sources added.
Police have taken cognizance and started inquest proceedings in the case.
Body of deceased VDC member was handed over to his family member for last rites after conducting autopsy.
