Early Times Report MANDI GOBINDGARH, Jan 5: The University School of Law, Desh Bhagat University (DBU), in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Fatehgarh Sahib, successfully organised an Awareness Seminar on "Youth Against Drugs" at the Mahapragya Seminar Hall today. The seminar was conducted under the national campaign "Say No to Drugs", reaffirming the university's strong commitment to social responsibility and youth empowerment. The programme was graced by the presence of eminent Guests of Honour, Sh. Arun Gupta, Ld. District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Sh. Ashok Kumar Chauhan, CJM-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Fatehgarh Sahib. The event was held under the esteemed patronage of Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University; Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University; and Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Vice-Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University. The seminar commenced with a cordial welcome of the dignitaries, followed by an inaugural address highlighting the growing menace of drug abuse among youth. The resource persons deliberated on the psychological, social, and legal consequences of substance abuse, emphasizing the pivotal role of educational institutions in prevention, awareness, and rehabilitation. The dignitaries from the District Legal Services Authority elaborated on key legal provisions under the NDPS Act, preventive legal mechanisms and the proactive role of Legal Services Authorities in awareness and rehabilitation initiatives. Students participated enthusiastically and interacted with the speakers, making the session highly engaging and informative. On the occasion Sh. Ashok Kumar Chauhan, CJM-cum-Secretary, DLSA, Fatehgarh Sahib, also visited the ADR Centre of Desh Bhagat University and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the faculty members and students of the University School of Law. The Awareness Seminar on "Youth Against Drugs" proved to be a meaningful and impactful initiative, sensitising students to the critical issue of drug abuse. The event reinforced the message that youth are the strength of the nation and must lead the movement towards a healthier, drug-free society. |
