DGPC Jammu celebrates Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji with religious fervour

Jammu, Jan 5: The Prakash Purab (birth anniversary) of the tenth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, was celebrated today with great religious fervour, devotion, and enthusiasm at Gurdwara Yaadgar Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar, Jammu.
The main function was organized at the Gurdwara, where a large number of devotees gathered to pay their obeisance and seek the blessings of the great Guru. The Gurdwara premises were beautifully decorated by the management committee, and devotees began arriving early in the morning to participate in the sacred celebrations.
Local Ragi Jathas, including Ragi Daljeet Singh Ji, Ragi Balbir Singh Ji, and Ragi Parvinder Singh Ji, along with prominent Ragis and Parcharaks from outside Jammu and Kashmir, enthralled the Sangat through soulful Shabad Kirtan, highlighting the higher values of life, righteousness, and communal harmony.
The renowned Hazuri Ragi Jatha of Bhai Kuldeep Singh Ji and Bhai Arvinder Singh Noor Ji from Sri Darbar Sahib also recited Shabad Kirtan and illuminated the congregation on the life, teachings, and glorious history of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj.
Eminent Sikh scholar and preacher Prof. S. Sarabjit Singh Dhunda of Gurmat Gian Missionary College, Ludhiana, delivered an insightful Katha, narrating significant historical events from the life of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and highlighting his unparalleled sacrifices made for the protection of the oppressed and for safeguarding religious freedom against forced conversions.
Addressing the gathering, Balvinder Singh, Vice President, DGPC Jammu, called upon community leaders and the Sangat, in particular, to engage in sincere introspection to identify the reasons and shortcomings that have hindered the effective redressal of the community’s genuine demands. He emphasized the need for collective reflection and unity to bridge these gaps and move forward with a common purpose. He also lauded the initiative of the All J&K Sikh Noujwan Sabha headed by S Manjeet Singh for launching a signature campaign seeking the inclusion of the Punjabi language in the J&K Official Languages Bill.
S. Ranjit Singh Tohra, President, shed light on the life and unmatched sacrifices of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Civil and Police Administration, PDD, PHE, JMC, CMO Jammu, Fire Services Department, doctors who organized a free medical camp, Sewadars who prepared and served Langar, volunteers who managed cleanliness, and those who set up stalls distributing free religious literature. He also thanked the media, including IKbani, Hond Digital Media, Aapsi Saanjh, Paigaam TV, JK Bulletin for their coverage of the event.
S. Surjit Singh, Secretary, who coordinated the stage proceedings, stated that the celebration not only honoured the spiritual legacy of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji but also addressed contemporary Sikh concerns, fostering unity and devotion among the Sangat. He expressed gratitude to the devotees and Sewadars for their invaluable contributions, emphasizing the collective effort behind the successful function.
