Early Times Report POONCH, Jan 6: Indian Army organized a Lecture on Renewable Energy resources and their potential utility in Jammu & Kashmir on 06 Jan 2026 at Khanetar, Poonch. The session was designed to engage with the local community in a discussion about the various renewable energy resources and the rapid depletion of conventional resources. The lecture highlighted the significant potential of renewable energy to address the long standing energy challenges faced by the region. The lecture began by informing the locals about conventional energy resource which are non-renewable and cannot be reused once consumed. These include coal, petroleum, natural gas and nuclear energy. These resources are being used at an alarming rate to meet daily energy requirements, driving the urgent need for alternatives such as Wind, Solar, Biomass, Tidal energy. The Government has lauched several initiatives to promote renewable energy, such as the PM KUSUM (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthaan Mahabhiyaan) scheme. Additionally, various financial incentives like grants, loans, rebates and tax credits have been introduced to encourage the development of renewable energy. These initiatives aim to ensure reliable daytime power supply for irrigation, reduce subsidy burdens and provide additional income opportunities for farmers. With a growing population and ever-increasing energy demands, it is essential to look beyond conventional sources and harness renewable energy to meet future needs. The lecture emphasized the importance of creating an enabling environment for the effective utilization of renewable energy sources, which will contribute to a sustainable and energy-efficient future. |
