Early Times Report REASI, Jan 6: District Police Reasi, acting swiftly on credible and reliable information, have taken prompt legal action in a case involving violation of mandatory tenant verification norms in the Katra area. On 05/01/2026, information was received that at Ward No. 12, House No. 25, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi, one individual namely Divya Kumar @ Mintu, S/O Sh. Hukam Chand, had allegedly provided his plot to jhuggi dwellers, on which eight (08) jhuggis were constructed. It was further revealed that several persons, originally hailing from West Bengal and Punjab, have been residing in these jhuggis for the past 7-8 years. Upon verification, it came to notice that the said individual failed to submit the mandatory particulars of these tenants for police verification, as required under Part (b) of the prescribed order, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 223(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Accordingly, a case FIR No. 07/2026 under Section 223(a) BNS has been registered at Police Station Katra, and further investigation has been initiated as per law. The entire operation was carried out by SHO P/S Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran, JKPS. SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh, JKPS reiterated firm commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring strict enforcement of tenant verification norms, which are crucial for public safety and security. |
