Notorious drug peddler booked under PIT NDPS Act by PS Billawar

KATHUA, Jan 6: In a major success against drug peddlers, Kathua Police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma IPS has booked a notorious drug peddler under the PITNDPS Act following multiple involvements in serious NDPS-related offences.
On the directions of Divisional Commissioner Jammu, a detention warrant vide Order No. PITNDPS-01 of 2026 dated 02-01-2026 was issued against the accused Mohd.Sadiq @Siku S/o Sheru @Matu R/o Galak Tehsil Ramkot District Kathua, a habitual drug peddler.
Police party of Police Station Billawar led by SHO Billawar Insp Zaheer Mushtaq under the supervision of SP Ops Upper Kathua Sh Aamir Iqbal and SDPO Billawar Sh Neeraj Padyar arrested the accused and executed the said warrant under Section 3 of the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988, after the approval of the competent authority.
The said accused has been found involved in the following NDPS cases:
1. FIR No. 110/2023 U/S 8/21/22/29/ NDPS Act of PS Billawar
2. FIR No. 96/2025 U/S 8/21/22/27(a)/60/NDPS Act of PS Billawar
3. FIR No.163/2025 U/S 8/21/22/NDPS Act of P/S Billawar.
The accused is a repeated offender and had created a sense of fear among the public by his illegal activities. His detention under PITNDPS will send a strong message to other drug peddlers and anti-social elements. After completion of necessary legal formalities, the accused has been lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu.
The general public is once again appealed to continue cooperating with police and share information regarding drug peddlers so that society can be freed from the menace of drugs.
