| IIT Jammu, SKUAST-J sign MoU under JKCIP | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 6: The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Innovation, Incubation and Industrial Collaboration Centre (I3C), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu under the Jammu & Kashmir Competitive Innovation Programme (JKCIP) to promote innovation, incubation, start-ups, technology commercialization, and agri-entrepreneurship. The MoU was signed in the presence of the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. B. N. Tripathi, who emphasized that institutional collaboration is essential in today's academic and research ecosystem, as no institution can effectively function in isolation. He highlighted that the advanced technologies and engineering expertise available at IIT Jammu can significantly strengthen agricultural research, innovation, and field-level interventions, ultimately benefiting farmers, students, and the region as a whole. He further underscored that the future of agriculture lies in hi-tech, technology-driven solutions through convergence of engineering and agricultural sciences. The MoU was signed on behalf of IIT Jammu by Dr. M. T. Arvind, Chief Innovation Officer (CIO), IIT Jammu and Director, I3C-IIT Jammu, and on behalf of SKUAST-Jammu by Dr. Pawan K. Sharma, Professor & Head, AEABM & Nodal Officer, JKCIP, SKUAST-Jammu. Dr. S. K. Gupta, Director Research, SKUAST-Jammu, proposed broadening the scope of collaboration between the two institutions in the future. Dr. M. T. Arvind stated that IIT Jammu is fully committed to promoting start-ups and entrepreneurial activities and is in the process of launching a Unified Degree Programme, under which students from SKUAST-Jammu will also be provided opportunities to participate. All statutory officers of SKUAST-Jammu were present duting the ceremony alngwith Dr. Nalin Kumar Sharma, Er. Akash Sharma, Dr. Anil Kumar and Ankit Sharma from IIT Jammu. Dr. Sudhakar Dwivedi, Dr. Jyoti Kachroo and Dr. Anil Bhat associated with Incubation Centre of SKUAST-Jammu were also present. |
