Early Times Report KISHTWAR, Jan 6: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma today chaired a review meeting to discuss the Action Plan for the implementation of Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiatives, with a special focus on promotion of pulses cultivation in the district. Chief Agriculture Officer, Kushal Chandel presented the Annual Action Plan for the year 2026-27. The plan was discussed in detail, focusing on enhancing pulse production through farmers' support and sustainable agricultural practices. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for crop diversification and directed the Head of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) to include Kulath (Horse Gram) in the Annual Action Plan. "The departments, financial institutions and farmer groups should work in a convergence mode to achieve effective implementation of government schemes aimed at strengthening the agricultural economy in the district," he added. The meeting was attended by CPO, Akhil Thakur; DAO, Rajeshwar Singh Jamwal; LDM, Harsh Rawal; DDM NABARD, Nikhil Sharma; besides representatives from Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), progressive farmers and Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS). |
