Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 8: The District Shopian Taekwondo Championship 2025-26 concluded successfully with a formal closing ceremony and prize distribution at Batapora Stadium, Shopian. The two-day championship was organised by the Taekwondo Association of District Shopian under the aegis of the J&K Taekwondo Association and the J&K Sports Council (JKSC), and was held from 7th to 8th January 2026. The closing ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Gh. Rasool Khanday, along with distinguished Guests of Honour including Ahtesham (President, Taekwondo Association Shopian), Rameez Ahmad (Coach, Wushu), Shabir Ahmad (PEM), Ashraf Nazir (Coach, Hockey), and Sayaaf (Coach, Volleyball). Medals were awarded to the winners in various categories in recognition of their commendable performances. The medalists will represent District Shopian in the upcoming 28th J&K UT Taekwondo Championship 2025-26. Mementos were also presented to the dignitaries and officials as a mark of appreciation for their support and presence. The organising committee acknowledged the dedicated services of the referee panel comprising Arbeena Altaf, Haris Gulzar, Urmeela Manzoor, Tahdeen Rafiq, and Sehran Nazir, whose impartial and professional officiating ensured the smooth and fair conduct of the championship. The championship was successfully headed by Aquib Gulzar (Coach, Taekwondo). The event concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the spirit of sportsmanship and encouraging greater participation of youth in sports activities across District Shopian. |
