Early Times Report CHANDIGARH, Jan 8: On the third day of the ongoing seven-day NSS camp, the NSS volunteers of the college visited their adopted villages Gopalpura and Majhwind to carry out community outreach and awareness activities. The visit aimed at strengthening the bond between the institution and the local community while understanding the social and environmental needs of the villagers. The college principal Dr Amardeep Gupta informed that during the visit, the volunteers interacted with residents and created awareness about cleanliness, personal hygiene, health, and the importance of education. They also encouraged the villagers to support the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and adopt healthy practices in their daily lives. Door-to-door interaction helped in spreading important messages related to sanitation and environmental protection. The volunteers conducted a brief survey to identify key issues faced by the villagers so that suitable steps could be planned to address them during the camp. The villagers warmly welcomed the NSS team and appreciated their sincere efforts towards community development. During the village visit, the NSS volunteers covered important public places including Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium, Gurudwara Sahib, Panchayat Ghar, and the village Dispensary. These visits helped the volunteers understand the functioning of key community institutions and their role in the welfare of villagers. A cleaning drive was carried out in and around these places, where volunteers actively participated in cleaning the surroundings and spreading awareness about hygiene and sanitation. The drive received cooperation from the local residents and created a positive impact on the environment. The team also visited the village library, which was found to be in need of significant improvement in terms of infrastructure, books, and seating facilities. The volunteers noted these requirements and assured the villagers that efforts would be made to enhance the learning resources for the youth. These activities provided valuable exposure to the volunteers and strengthened their sense of responsibility towards community development, truly reflecting the spirit of NSS - "Not Me, But You." The visit to Gopalpura and Majhwind proved to be a meaningful learning experience for the volunteers. The NSS camp continues to promote social responsibility and service to society through such constructive activities. |
