JK Coordination Committee Trade Union holds convention
1/11/2026 8:28:39 PM

early times report

Jammu, Jan 11: A delegate convention under the banner of Jammu Kashmir Co-ordination Committee Of Trade Union was held today at Forest convention centre Jammu which was attended by large number of delegates representing Govt. Public sector and unorganized sector employees and workers. The convention was presided over by Mohd. Maqbool National Secretary AISGEC and President JKCCTU.
He while inaugurating the convention said, today the entire working class and all the downtrodden masses are facing a serious challenge posed by the central Govts. most dangerous anti working class policies. The recent disastrous moves of the central Govt. to impose the four labour codes at the behest of corporates and capitalist class while by passing the existing 29 labour rights has created an alarming situation. He said that the new labour codes have endangered the social and job security, trade union rights giving free hand to employers both Govt. and the capitalist class to hire and fire, initiate fixed term employment and dismantle all the present arrangement of bargaining power of work force. The Electricity amendment Bill 2025 if passed will ruin the power sector and facilitate the complete privatization in favour of big corporates and put the huge burden on the poor consumers. While coming to the Jammu and Kashmir, he said that we are facing complete suppression of democratic and trade union rights today despite the Democratically elected Govt. in Jammu and Kashmir and restoration of state hood even promised by the central Govt. still becomes a dream. The present Omar Abdullah Govt. seems unable to address the employees and workers issues like regularization of daily wagers and restoration of old pension scheme etc.
He while appreciating the initiative of Central Trade unions like AITUC and AISGEC fully supported their national level strike action programme on 12th, February 2026 and urge all the employees and workers of Jammu and Kashmir to observe the action programme and fight these anti working moves with full might.
Dr. Shashi Pal Singh Gen. secretary JKCCTU put up the main resolution for discussion in the convention on immediate and burning demands before the delegates and explained its main features which was passed after discussion unanimously.
Gurmeet Singh Provincial President and Sr. Vice President JKCCTU while addressing the convention highlighted the general demands facing the employees today and particularly referred to and explained anti-people, anti-worker, Electricity Amendment Bill and he while opposing this bill urged all the Engineers and employees in Power sector to unitedly resists this bill and save their hard-earned rights.
The convention was addressed by prominent JKCCTU leaders especially by Rajan Singh Jamwal Vice President, Nazir Ahmad Asstt. Gen. Secretary, Md. Iqbal Darsaroo, Surinder Sharma State Secretaries and Ajay Sharma Secretary who whole supporting the resolution highlighted the departmental issues facing the employees and worker.
