| Inter-school sports meet ends | | City High School declared winner in Kabaddi | | UDHAMPUR, MAY 22 - Government City High School, Udhampur was declared winner in Boys the finals of U-14 Kabaddi event being played as part of Inter-School tournament of Udhampur Zone by defeating Government Central Middle School, Udhampur by 12 points at Subash Stadium, Udhampur on Friday.
The team of City High School secured 38 points while as Central Middle School managed to get only 26 points in the final contest.
SSP, Udhampur, Surinder Gupta was the chief guest on the concluding function.
Complimenting the organizers of the tournament, the SSP said that sports activities are vital for the overall personality development of the students. “Games keep us physically fit and mentally sound”, he asserted and added that such events provide an opportunity to the young players to expose their talent and interact at a common platform which further helps in strengthening the bonds of friendship and mutual understanding among the students.
Terming the budding sportspersons as Ambassador of peace, Mr. Gupta hoped that the players of the district by the dint of their hard work would bring laurels to their institutions at State, National and International levels.
Zonal Physical Education Officer, Udhampur, Mr. Bhushan Sethi, while giving the details of the two-days tournament said that during the Inter-school tournament, sports events like Volleyball Kabaddi, Kho-Kho and Wrestling were organized in which as many as 650 participants including Boys and Girls of 33 Government and Private schools in the age groups of under-14 and in the 17, participated. The players been selected for coaching in this tournament will participate in Inter-Zonal two-day tournament at Govt. HSS Jaganoo on May 28 and 29, he added.
In the final tally of winners and runners ups in different events of Boys category Boys City HS Udhampur outplayed Central MS Udhampur with 38-26 score in u-14 boys kabaddi, u-17 Boys of HSS Udhampur beat HSS Garhi with 33-23 score in Kabaddi, U-17 Boys of Little Angels HS Udhampur beat HSS Garhi by 15-10 in Kabaddi and U-14 Boys of Little Angles HS Udhampur defeated MS Garhi by 12-06 score in Kho-Kho.
In the winners and runners ups in Girls category included U-17 Girls of HS Udhampur beat BBSV Peeth Udhampur with 23-18 score in Kabaddi, U-17 Girls HS Malhar beat Girls HS Udhampur by 18-12 points in Kho-Kho event while U-14 Girls MS Krimchi beat HS Malhar with 23-14 score in Kabaddi, while as U-14 Kho-Kho event Girls MS Malhar beat Girls HS Garhi with 18-12 score.
