| Wrong Injection claims 2 lives in Rajouri, ‘doctor arrested’ | | | Early Times report Rajouri, May 22: Two children including a seven month old minor died while another has been hospitalized in critical condition when a local self styled pseudo medical assistant injects ‘wrong medicine’ to them in city chowk area here, this evening. Informed sources told that two children died after a ‘self styled medical assistant’ Murli Manohar Datta injects ‘higher dose of medicine’ to them at a local medical shop here, while another female child was reportedly admitted in local hospital and doctors attending her stated her condition as critical. “Two children identified as Atib (4 years old) son of Mohd Kabir resident of Rajdhani Bagla Thanamandi and a seven month old Wahid Ahmad son of Mohd Aslam of Kotdara Rajouri were brought by their parents to the medical shop with the complaint of high fever”, sources told adding both of them according to their parents were given injection following which they die. Another two year old female identified as Sobia Mushtaq daughter of Mushtaq resident of ward no 7 Rajouri was also injected some medicine on which she fell unconscious and was shifted to Hospital where she is battling between life and death. The bodies of the children were taken to hospital where doctors will carry post mortem on them to ascertain the reason which led to their death, sources added. Soon after the news of death of the children spread in the city all the relatives of the deceased children and locals assembled in city chowk and blocked Shar-e-Kashmir Bridge for about one hour and demand arrest of the medical assistant and registration of a murder case against him. “Rajouri city has become a hub of pseudo medical assistants and no authority checked their licenses” a relative of Wahid told our paper alleging that Drug authorities are minting money which resulted in mushrooming of medical shops. He said who will tell a comman man which one is genuine and which is not. “we are among lay men who don’t know ABC of medicine and trust these people who for their petty interests play with the lives of human beings”, he added.
