JAMMU, Jan 15: Thana Diwas was held today by SP Headquarters Jammu, Sh. Irshad Hussain Rather-JKPS, along with SDPO RS. Pura Sh. Gurmeet Singh-JKPS & SHO PS R.S. Pura, Inspector Sh. Ravi Singh Parihar,Incharge BPP Baspura,SI Ranbir Singh,Incharge BPP Badyal Brahamana,SI Parshotam Singh & Incharge BPP Agra Chak ASI Ashwani Sharma at Pari Palace in border Village of Baspur Bangla in the jurisdiction of Police Station R.S Pura. The event witnessed the active participation of about 150 respectables including numberdars, chowkiders, ex-sarpanchs/panchs, shopkeepers, senior citizens and other prominent residents of the area.
During the Thana Diwas, a detailed interaction was held between police officers and participants to discuss a wide range of issues related to drug menace,local security, traffic management, registration of cases, proper investigation, verification processes and the strengthening of community policing measures. The participants freely shared their suggestions and concerns regarding public safety, and many practical inputs were received for improving police-public coordination. Additionally, participants were made aware regarding implementation of New Criminal Laws, highlighting key citizen friendly provisions such as Zero-FIR, e-FIR, preliminary enquiry (PE), victim-centric approaches, and the integration of forensic and digital evidence in investigations.
Emphasizing the importance of security, business owners especially were advised to install CCTV cameras in commercial establishments and shops in accordance with the orders issued by the Deputy Commissioner Jammu. This measure aims to curb criminal activities and enhance public safety.
During the interaction participants raised various issues of public importance including frequent electricity load-shedding, issues pertaining to tenant verifications, Drug abuse, Traffic violations and applauded the unwavering efforts of Jammu Police for curbing anti-social elements.
Participants of the meeting lauded the efforts of Jammu Police, for their dedicated service, quick response to grievances, and sustained efforts to maintain peace and harmony in the area.
They also expressed appreciation for the visible improvement in policing especially decisive actions against drug traffickers and hardcore criminals and overall improvement in community engagement.
While speaking on the occasion, SP Headquarters Jammu thanked Public of the area for cooperation and their active participation. He urged youth to remain cautious against online scams, drug abuse and save themselves from anti-social and anti-national activities.
SDPO R S Pura and SHO R S Pura appealed participants to cooperate with Police in maintaining peace and in making the society drug free.
