Early Times Report BISHNAH, Jan 16: Government Degree College, Bishnah celebrated National Youth Day on 16th January 2026 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, a great philosopher, visionary leader, and youth icon of India. The programme was organised by the Youth Red Cross Club of the college in collaboration with the NCC Unit, under the aegis of the worthy Principal, Dr. Shallu Samyal. The celebration aimed to inspire the youth by spreading the ideals and teachings of Swami Vivekananda, who firmly believed in the strength and potential of young minds. His timeless message to the youth, "Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached," served as the central theme of the programme and resonated throughout the event. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Koushal Kiran Thacker, Convener, Youth Red Cross Club, with active support from faculty members and student volunteers. Dr. Kusum, Associate NCC Officer (ANO), was also a key organizing member and played a vital role in coordinating the participation of NCC cadets and maintaining discipline during the event. The event commenced with a floral tribute to Swami Vivekananda, wherein faculty members, NCC cadets, and students paid homage to the great leader with deep respect and reverence. This was followed by the screening of a documentary on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda, highlighting his inspirational journey, his views on education, character-building, nationalism, and service to humanity. A student address was delivered by Nitin, a student of Semester IV, who spoke eloquently on the life, philosophy, and enduring relevance of Swami Vivekananda in the contemporary world. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Sunil Kumar Saliada, Head, Department of Hindi, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Principal, organizing committee, faculty members, NCC unit, student speakers, and volunteers for their valuable contributions. The celebration ended on a motivational note, leaving the participants inspired to embody the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and contribute meaningfully to society and nation-building. |
