Early Times Report POONCH, Jan 16: In its continued efforts to curb drug trafficking and ensure public safety, Police Station Surankote today achieved a significant success by apprehending a drug peddler and recovering contraband during a special naka checking operation. Acting on routine preventive measures, a special naka was laid at Mirza Morh by a police team of PS Surankote. During checking and frisking of pedestrians passing through the area, one individual was intercepted on suspicion. Upon thorough search, approximately 50 grams of Charas (Cannabis) was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Faizaan Ahmed, son of Mushtaq Ahmed, resident of near Old Tehsil, Surankote. He was immediately taken into custody and the recovered contraband was seized as per legal procedures. Accordingly, FIR No. 11/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Surankote, and further investigation has been initiated. Efforts are underway to establish both forward and backward linkages of the accused to unearth the wider drug network involved in the illegal trade. District Police Poonch reiterates its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug abuse and narcotics trafficking and appeals to the general public to cooperate with the police and share any information related to drug-related activities. |
