Gujjars rejects Div Com's report on Karnaila Chak incident

Jammu, May 23-Rebuffing the “Enquiry Report” prepared by Divisional Commissioner, Jammu on the direction of Chief Minister on Karnaila Chak incident, various Gujjar and Bakerwal organizations of Jammu and Kashmir today termed it as politically motivated, unrealistic and malafide.
Addressing jointly a press conference here at Press Club here today the Gujjar leaders demanded an independent CBI enquiry or judicial probe by a High Court Judge into the incident.
Anwar Choudhary, State President of Gujjars United Front, Haji Shamsher Ali Boken, State President of J&K Gujjar Bakerwal Joint Forum, Ch Ghulam Rasool Chief Organizer Jammu Kashmir Gujjar Bakerwal Conference and leaders of uprooted families includes Asghar Chowdhary, Fazal Din , Mohammed Yousuf and Abdul Rashid while addressing the media persons alleged that the “Divisional Commissioner” in its report shielded the Police and local Administration including the officials of Forest Department who were responsible for torching of more than 31 huts of nomadic Gujjars.
The leaders further stated that Police is still harassing the Gujjars of the area and high officials are bent upon to uproot and dislocate the nomadic and tribal community from periphery areas of Jammu, Kathua and Udhampur.
“The enquiry report is totally unrealistic and politically motivated and was prepared to shield the officers and officials who were responsible for such type of inhuman action against Gujjars , said Anwar Chowdhary adding that the report is totally silent about atrocities of Police against Gujjars”. He said, since the incident we are demanding action against the culprits but nothing has been done by the government.
Haji Shamsher Ali Boken said the government is bent upon to snatch the constitutional rights of Scheduled Tribe communities including the right of cultivation on Forest lands. He added that Forest, JDA and Police are jointly distressing and harassing the Tribals on behest of the State Government which is painful and intolerable.
“We are going to stage a massive Dharna in front of Parliament of India to protests against the State Governments saddest approach on Tribal issues said Ghulam Rasool Choudhary adding that no compensation was granted to the affected families till date and government is sleeping over the issue.
