| JMC clears 65 building permission cases; goes tough against adulterators | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 23- The Building Operation Controlling Authority of Jammu Municipal Corporation, in a meeting held under the Chairmanship of its Commissioner, today cleared 65 building permission cases, both residential and commercial, fetching revenue of Rs.11 lakhs for the Corporation as permission fees while some cases were deferred for want of NOC’s from the concerned departments. The JMC has geared up the process for clearing the building permission cases to facilitate the general public for taking up construction work within the Municipal limits. The Corporation has earned an amount of Rs. 2.75 crores on account the building permission fee during the last four months alone. The Commissioner also reviewed the ongoing drive of clearing and cleaning the deep drains/nallahs passing through various areas of Municipal limits. The Sanitation Wing of the Corporation is maintaining 45 major nallahs/deep drains which are being cleared on regular basis. The Corporation has already paced up the drive for clearing these drains keeping in view the ensuing monsoon season and every day about 100 labourers are engaged for clearing these drains/nallahs. The Commissioner has directed the Sanitation Wing to ensure that these drains are cleared at the earliest, so as to avoid over flooding of the areas in the city during monsoon. The Health Wing of the JMC, while accelerating their drive of checking of food 'items under the PFA, lifted 130 samples of various commodities like fresh sweet meat, milk products, eatables, Desi Ghee and edible oil during the past three months and the samples have been sent to Public Analyst for analysis and report. As per the report received from the Public Analyst, the sweet mart of M/S Mahajan Sweets Canal Road, Cheese of M/S Surya Brand, Desi Ghee of Amrit Brand and Mustered Oil of V-Brand were found adulterated and the cases against them have been framed under PFA and challaned in the Court for prosecution. Similarly sample of eatables were picked up from M/S Krishna and M/S JAY CEE for eatables were found misbranded for which the cases have been challaned in the court of law.
