Labour Minister Sond launches Handbook on BoCW Schemes and Procedures

CHANDIGARH, Jan 20: The Punjab Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (BoCW) organized an awareness programme for stakeholders of the Labour Department, during which a Handbook on BoCW Schemes and Procedures was formally launched by Labour Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond. The programme aimed to create awareness about BoCW schemes, procedures, and timelines, and to promote a worker-friendly approach for timely assistance to construction workers. A panel discussion on labour reforms was also held, focusing on implementation challenges and field-level experiences. The discussion also covered procedural alignment of BoCW schemes under the new Labour Codes, with emphasis on transparency, ease of compliance, and stakeholder coordination. During the function, best-performing districts were felicitated and letters of appreciation were presented to the concerned Deputy Commissioners. Appreciation letters were also awarded to best-performer Assistant Labour Commissioners and Labour Inspectors for their effective implementation of welfare schemes.
Anurag Kundu, Member PDC and Secretary Labour Manvesh Singh Sidhu, highlighted the reforms undertaken by the BoCW Board to simplify procedures, reduce unnecessary documentation, and ensure timely delivery of welfare schemes.
Special felicitation was given to the Rajiv Gupta Labour Commissioner-cum-Secretary, BoCW Board, Deputy Secretary BoCW Board Padamjit Singh and officials of the Punjab Development Commission for their extraordinary efforts in compiling the Handbook and for initiatives taken to reduce unnecessary procedural requirements.
