Pradeep Sharma lauded VB G RAM G law
1/20/2026 10:24:11 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 20: BJP District Jammu South Publicity Secretary Pardeep Sharma has said that it is related to VB G_RAM_G (Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission Rural). This new law was passed by the Parliament in December 2025 and implemented atter the President's approval.
It replaces the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, which was running since 2005. This law focuses on making rural employment strong, transparent and productive with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Sharma said that rural families will get 125 days of salaried employment every financial year. This increase will improve the income of rural families. Earlier, the central government used to bear the entire cost of unskilled wages in MNREGA. Now there is a 60:40 (Center: State) sharing model. It will be 90:10 for North-Eastern and Himalayan states. A break of 60 days has been given during the peak agricultural season (sowing-harvesting) so that laborers can get involved in farming work. Wages are mandatory to be paid weekly (or maximum in 2 weeks). Automatic compensation will be given for delay. Work will now mainly be on four areas: water security, rural infrastructure, livelihood related assets, and climate resilience. This will create long-lasting assets. Transparency will increase with technology like biometric attendance, GPS/satellite monitoring, Al for fraud detection. Here are some images that show the benefits of this scheme and rural development.
According to the government, these changes address the shortcomings of MNREGA (like corruption, fake work, delayed payments). It is beneficial for laborers and farmers.
