| Police foil bovine smuggling bid, 40 bovines rescued | | |

JAMMU, Jan 23: Continuing its sustained crackdown against bovine smuggling under Operation Kamdhenu, Jammu (Rural) Police successfully foiled a bovine smuggling attempt and rescued a large number of animals.
During the intervening night of 22/23.01.2026, a police team of Police Post Sidhra intercepted a vehicle involved in the illegal transportation of bovines. As a result, 40 bovine animals were rescued, and one Truck bearing registration number JK02DG-1123 was seized.
The driver of the seized vehicle fled from the spot, taking advantage of the darkness. Accordingly, FIR No. 15/2026 under Section 223 BNS and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act has been registered at Police Nagrota. Further investigation into the matter is underway. |
