REASI, Jan 23: District Police Reasi achieved a significant success against illegal liquor trade by seizing a consignment of illicit liquor during routine naka checking. A vehicle Alto bearing registration No. JK14G-3048, coming from the Tikri side towards Katra, was stopped for checking at Sool Naka of Police Post Kakryal. During questioning, the driver disclosed his identity as Farman Ali S/O Noor Ali R/O Village Dhandal, Tehsil Ramnagar, District Udhampur. On thorough checking of the vehicle, the police team recovered two carton boxes of DMB JK Special Whisky containing 62 quarter bottles of 250 ml each, which were being transported illegally for sale in Katra.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 37/2026 under Section 48(a) of the Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation is underway.
The whole operation was carried out by IC PP Kakryal PSI Akhilesh Khajuria and SHO P/S Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran, JKPS.
