Thannamandi, Jan 25: Government Degree College (GDC) Thannamandi under the visionary patronage of Principal (Dr.) Shamim Ahmed Azad organized a grand assembly for the collective singing of the National Song, “Vande Mataram” here on Saturday. The event was held in the college premises where a harmonious tribute to the Nation began with a special assembly where a large gathering of students and faculty members took a pledge to celebrate the National Voters Day and afterwards staff joined in a soulful rendition of Vande Mataram. The atmosphere was charged with patriotic energy as Dr. Gulshan Rashid Bhat Head Dept. of Geography echoed the verses that have historically symbolized the spirit of Indian independence and resilience followed by a chorus singing by the audience. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Shamim Ahmed Azad highlighted the importance of such traditional observances in educational institutions. The event was graced by Sub District Magistrate Sh. Aabid Hussain Shah, ZEPO Thannamandi Mr. Saleem Raina, Officers from Election Cell Thannamandi, and PWD Department along with the faculty members ;Dr. Nazakat Hussain, Dr Naseem Ahmed Malik, Dr. Gohar Iqbal, Dr. Sheraz Ahmed, Dr Gulshan Rashid Bhat, Prof Supriya Gupta,Prof. Fatima Parveen, Librarian Anuj Bali, Dr. Junaid Ahmed,Dr Ather Aziz Raina, Prof.Rumy Dar, Prof. Rizwana Kousar, Dr. Shazia Poswal, Dr. Mohd Ashrif, Dr Ateeq Ul Rehman, Dr. Mudasir, Dr. Shahid Mehmood, Dr. Javaid with non-teaching staff and a large participation from students. The event served as a platform to promote communal harmony and national integration within the campus.
