DIG honours police personnel for outstanding performance

UDHAMPUR, MAY 24 -For the entertainment of Police personnel of all ranks serving in the District Police Lines, Udhampur, the District Information Centre, Udhampur organized a scintillating variety programme in the premises of District Police Lines, Udhampur, last evening.
DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Gulzar Singh Slathia, District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. Ajay Khajuria, SSP Udhampur, Surinder Gupta, Addl.S.P. S. Bhupinder Singh, Dy.SP’s, SHO’s and other ranks were present to witness the show.
The folk songs presented by the reputed singers of Jammu region mesmerized the audience. The Dogri folk songs sung by Rakesh Singh Slathia and Nirbhey Singh Slathia won huge applause from the audience with people tapping and cheering on their popular Dogri folk song “ Asyan Kutti Tez Trar Chattni Timbroo Di…….” rendition. Punjabi folk songs sung by Naveen Punjabi also got loud appreciation for his professional voice. The hilarious mimicry presented by a local budding comedian, Mr. Saptrishi, brought festivity in air with everyone bursting into laughter.
Lauding the efforts of Information Department in organizing a magnificent cultural show especially designed for the entertain of Police personnel, the DIG said with the holding of such events in an organization like Police, was imperative for providing rejuvenating the Jawans who usually work in stressful odd hours and need entertainment after regular intervals. Modalities would therefore be chalked out to arrange such entertaining programmes on quarterly basis, the DIG added.
Complimenting the Jawans for the successful conduct of Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, the SSP Udhampur said the idea behind holding this programme was to make them stress free. He called upon the Jawans to discharge their duties honestly with a spirit of dedication.
Earlier, a Police Darbar was held at District Police Lines in which DIG and SSP addressed the police personnel. The DIG also honoured the dedicated and meritorious police officials with cash awards and commendation certificates. Later all ranks of district police participated in Bada Khana hosted by SSP Udhampur at Police Lines.
