| DC Reasi asks rural people to save the forests from fire | | | Early Times Report REASI, MAY 24 - To save the green gold from frequent forest fires in Reasi district, the Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, Mr. Sanjeev Verma has stressed upon the rural people particularly those residing near forests to come forward in saving forest from destruction. In a message, Mr. Verma has said that forests which are our green gold help in maintaining the ecological balance on the earth. He said that forests provides us number of natural gifts like oxygen, pollution free atmosphere, ecological balance, medicinal plants, fire wood and timber for construction and it becomes the duty of every one to contribute in saving the forests wealth. The Divisional Forest Officers of Reasi district has been also asked to initiate necessary steps to control the forest fire. The Village Forest Committees (VFCs) are also being activated to monityor the causes of forest fire incidents. Locals who reside in nearby forest areas have been asked to identify the culprits who are responsible for such fire incidents. The senior officers along with field functionaries of the forest department were asked to organise public awareness camps on conservation of forests. Mr. Verma has asked the general public of Reasi district to fully cooperate with the administration to trace and bring to book the actual culprits for saving the forests from further devastation.
