Early Times Report NEW DELHI, Jan 28: Indira Gandhi National Open University has launched a B.Sc. programme in Fabric and Apparel Design (BSCFFAD) via Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode. This 3-year (6-semester) Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) focuses on textile science, design, production, and marketing, preparing students for roles in garment manufacturing and fashion retail. The Notification No.IG/P&DD/ODL/Launch/2556 Dated 22nd January, 2026 issued to this effect by the Planning and Development Division, IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi states that the programme will be on-offer from the current January 2026 admission cycle. The programme covers textile science, weave structure, dyeing techniques, garment construction, and apparel marketing. The graduates of the programme would have vast Career Opportunities to explore as Fashion Designers or Assistant Designers, Apparel Production Managers or Quality Control Managers, Textile Designers or Fabric Buyers, Fashion Merchandisers or Coordinators, and Entrepreneurs in the clothing/boutique sector. "The BSCFFAD programme follows the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 guidelines, offering a flexible and multidisciplinary approach to fashion education, and is recognized by the UGC and AIU, putting it at par with regular university degrees and making graduates eligible for both government and private sector jobs globally", said Dr. Sandeep Gupta, Regional Director, IGNOU, Regional Centre Jammu. |
