| Advisory Board for development of Gujjar, Bakerwal fails: JF | | | Early Times Srinagar, May 24 Alleging that Jammu and Kashmir State Advisory Board for Development of Gujjar and Bakerwal (SABDGB) has failed to serve the tribal community, the Joint Forum of the Gujjar and Bakerwals (JFGB) today demanded reconstitution of the board. Haji Shamsher Ali Boken, state president of forum alleged that the board as the organisation, set up for the welfare of the tribals, has miserably failed to serve the community in the state.
Demanding the removal of all non-Gujjar staff from the board, he alleged that it has done nothing for them.
He said against 16 staff members including ''Vice Chairman'' of the board, only one orderly is from the Gujjar community while all others were non-Gujjars.
Mr Boken said non-Gujjar secretary and other staff in ''Gujjar Board'' is a conspiracy against the entire community, which constitutes 20 per cent of the total population of the state.
Another Gujjar leader Mohammad Din Dhakar demanded intervention of Governor N N Vohra to change the staff and appointment of those belonging to Gujjar community.
He alleged that the present National Conference (NC) and Congress coalition government in the state has adopted a calculated attitude to victimized the Gujjar officers and employees working in the state government by ignoring their posting in the important departments.
Gujjars are not been provided promotional avenues available under reservation laws, he said.
''Our KAS and KPS officers are being ignored marginalised and neglected, he said adding that they are being harassed and posted in cells, tribunals and other less important departments.
This seems to be well established conspiracy against Gujjars'' said Razaq Poswal.
Chowdhary Fazal Din Mushtaq said the government has sabotaged the constitutional safeguards available to the Gujjars of Jammu and Kashmir through the Scheduled Tribe status provided by the Central government way back in 1991.
He said that there appears to be well thought conspiracy to make Gujjars and Bakerwals play a second fiddle even though they are always in the face of numerous hardships.
Another prominent Gujjar leader, Choudhary Mohammad Aslam said that Gujjars are the worst sufferers of the policies of the coalition government and their so called concept of healing touch policy.
He said all funds meant for the welfare and socio-economic development of the Gujjars are being diverted to other schemes thus making a mockery of the constitutional provisions.
