Soz looking towards Delhi Durbar
5/25/2009 12:35:47 AM

Jammu , May 24 Securing a place in the Union Cabinet may not prove to be an easy going for former Union Minister and state unit president of the Congress in Jammu and Kashmir, Saif-uddin Soz. who is in a wait and watch mood is finding it difficult to find a place for himself as the National Conference President Farooq Abdullah was also left out of the list who ultimately made it to the union cabinet.
Well placed sources told that Soz is unlikely to be considered for a berth in the cabinet during the next week’s cabinet expansion.
“Jammu and Kashmir has already been given representation in the Union Cabinet as former Chief Minister Ghulm Nabi Azad has been formally inducted in the cabinet,” a senior statecongress leader told Press Bureau of India on the condition of anonymity.
Interestingly, Soz, who was inducted in the union cabinet in May 2006 was expecting it to make big this time also.
Sources close to Soz say that Soz sahib was expecting a bigger responsibility this time around as he played a comprehensive role in making the NC-Congress combine a success during the recently held assembly polls.
Soz who is presently camping in New Delhi on Saturday met the Union Defence Minister A K Antony and briefed him about the problems faced by the people of Kargil.
Meanwhile, sources indicated that the Congress leadership is in no mood to induct the senior Abdullah into the Union Cabinet.
As per the reports the Congress leadership feels it has done more than enough for the National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir as it has not insisted on a three-year power sharing formula, which the party had with the PDP in 2002.
The national conference, however, is playing the issue as settled as the NC premier said that he talked to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over the issue.
Farooq , however, did not attend the swearing in ceremony at Delhi. Sources said that a disgruntled Farooq flew off to South Africa to watch IPL matches
