Early Times Report RAMNAGAR, Feb 2: The NSS Unit of Government Degree College Ramnagar inaugurated its seven-day NSS Winter Camp with great enthusiasm and active participation from students and faculty members. The camp aims to inculcate the values of social responsibility, community service, and holistic development among the NSS volunteers. The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. Ritika Mahajan, NSS Programme Officer, who highlighted the objectives and significance of the NSS Winter Camp. She emphasized the role of NSS in shaping socially responsible citizens and encouraged volunteers to actively participate in all camp activities. This was followed by an inspiring address by Dr. Ashni Devi, Vice Principal, GDC Ramnagar, who appreciated the efforts of the NSS Unit in organizing the camp. She motivated the volunteers to utilize the platform to develop leadership qualities, teamwork, and a spirit of service towards society. An orientation session was thereafter conducted by Dr. Pankaj Sharma (HOD English) and Prof. Manmohan Singh (HOD History), who acquainted the volunteers with the structure, objectives, and expected outcomes of the NSS camp. The session provided valuable insights into discipline, social engagement, and the importance of volunteerism. A special interactive session was delivered by Mr. Charanjit Singh, Manager (In-charge Advances), J&K Bank. He delivered an informative talk on financial literacy, focusing on student-centric financial products. He discussed student account facilities, education loans for higher studies abroad, and explained the process of applying for education loans through the Vidya Lakshmi Portal. He also elaborated on various government initiatives and social security schemes such as Mission YUVA, PMSBY, PMJJY, and pension schemes, making students aware of financial planning and inclusion. The inaugural day concluded on an energetic note with a sports activity-Tug of War, marking a vibrant beginning to the seven-day camp and fostering team spirit among the volunteers. The camp promises a series of meaningful activities aimed at community engagement, skill development, and nation-building. |
