Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 2: Heritageans got the opportunity to participate in an Energy Conservation Programme under the inaugural event of 'Saksham', a national initiative focused on promoting energy conservation and sustainable practices by the Government of India, organized by Oil Marketing Companies on 2nd February 2026. The programme began with a Saraswati Vandana, beautifully performed by the students of Heritage School, Jammu, setting a serene and auspicious tone for the event. The occasion was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr Shiv Kumar Gupta (JKAS), who ceremoniously lit the Jyoti Lamp, marking the formal inauguration of the programme. This was followed by an energy conservation pledge, encouraging students to adopt responsible and sustainable practices in their daily lives. Students of Heritage School actively contributed to the intellectual discourse of the programme. Niyati Bajaj spoke on the importance of energy conservation and presented an enlightening article focusing on sustainable energy practices to overcome present-day environmental challenges. Siya Kaushal of Class IX A presented an article in Hindi on 'Urja Sanrakshan', stressing the significance of conserving energy and suggesting practical solutions to address the issue. A prize distribution ceremony was held wherein participating students were felicitated with gift hampers by the Chief Guest. The programme concluded with an informative guest lecture by Mr. Shiv Kumar Gupta, who shared valuable insights on energy conservation, judicious use of resources and sustainable living. The event proved to be highly informative and inspiring, motivating students to adopt energy-saving practices and emerge as ambassadors of sustainability for a greener and more responsible future. |
