Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 2: In alignment with the experiential learning objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Department of Commerce, University of Jammu, organized an industrial visit for the students of M.Com 2nd Semester to Surya Biscuit Industries, located at Bari Brahmana Industrial Complex, Jammu, on February 02, 2026. The industrial visit was conducted as part of the course Entrepreneurship and New Ventures, with the primary objective of providing students with practical exposure to industrial operations and entrepreneurial practices. The visit was organized under the overall guidance of Prof. Jeevan Jyoti, Head, Department of Commerce, University of Jammu. During the visit, the students were briefed by Mr. Rajeshwar Gupta, Plant Manager, Surya Biscuit Industries, who shared valuable insights into the production process, operational capacity, and managerial challenges involved in managing a large-scale manufacturing unit. The interaction enabled students to gain a deeper understanding of real-world industrial functioning and decision-making processes. The visit was supervised by faculty members Dr. Harleen Kour and Dr. Preeti Slathia, who emphasized the significance of industry-academia interaction in enhancing students' practical understanding, skill development, and professional competence. Overall, the industrial visit proved to be a valuable learning experience, providing students with firsthand exposure to the functioning of a manufacturing unit. It helped strengthen their conceptual clarity and prepared them for future academic, professional, and entrepreneurial pursuits. |
