JAMMU, Feb 2: BJP Jammu and Kashmir Vice President Rekha Mahajan held an interactive meeting today with locals in Vijaypur organised by Mandal President Dheeraj Sharma, where she discussed the major provisions of the Union Budget 2026 and underlined the importance of the Mahatma Gandhi Gram Swaraj Initiative as a key driver of rural transformation. During her interaction, Mahajan said the initiative reflects the core philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of self-reliant and empowered villages. She described Gram Swaraj as a people-oriented framework aimed at strengthening grassroots democracy and ensuring balanced development across the country. Rekha Mahajan explained that the initiative focuses on comprehensive village development by improving infrastructure, sanitation, drinking water supply, renewable energy, digital connectivity, and livelihood opportunities. She added that such integrated development will convert villages into economic growth centres and reduce migration to urban areas. “The Gram Swaraj Initiative is not just a scheme, it is a movement that empowers Panchayats and local institutions to take ownership of development. It promotes transparency, community participation, and accountability in governance,” Mahajan said. She further highlighted that agriculture and allied sectors have received strong attention in the Union Budget 2026. Modern irrigation systems, market linkages, rural entrepreneurship, and financial inclusion will significantly enhance farmers’ income and strengthen the rural economy. Referring to Jammu and Kashmir, Mahajan said the region will benefit immensely from Gram Swaraj, especially in remote and border areas. She noted that improved connectivity, better healthcare, quality education, promotion of handicrafts, and tourism development will create new employment avenues for local youth. She also emphasized that women self-help groups and rural startups will play a crucial role in shaping village economies. “The Union Budget 2026 ensures that women, youth, and farmers are not left behind and become active stakeholders in national growth,” she added. Mahajan concluded by urging locals to actively participate in Gram Sabha meetings and support development initiatives. “True Gram Swaraj can only be achieved when people themselves become partners in governance and development. This initiative will lay the foundation for a strong, inclusive, and self-reliant rural India,” she asserted. Meanwhile, BJP Mandal President Dheeraj Sharma also addressed the gathering and praised the Union Budget 2026, stating, “The budget has given special focus to agriculture, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and youth employment. It reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to inclusive growth and his vision of a developed India where every section of society benefits equally.” |
