Jammu, May 25: Maharani Yasho Rajya Lakshmi W/0 Dr. Karan Singh, Former Union Minister and senior congress leader left for heavenly abode on May 24 after brief illness. Her last rites were performed today at Nigam Ghat, New Delhi.
Abdul Hamid Ansari Vice President of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, prime minister of India Sonia Gandhi Chairperson UPA, Sheela Dikshit, Chief Minister New Delhi, Gulam Nabi Azad, Union Minister, Jaiswal Former Home Minister, Rahul Gandhi, Saifu Din Soz, MP’s Chowdhari Lal Singh and Madan Lal, M L Fotedar, Janak Raj Gupta, Prof. Bhim Singh besides large number of ambassador / diplomats and prominent citizens were present and paid homage to the departed noble soul.
Earlier in the morning, all the dignitaries, VVIPS and prominent citizens also visited at 3, Naiya Marg, New Delhi- residence of Dr. Karan Singh and expressed shock over the sad demise of Maharani Yasho Rajya Lakshmi as well as general public of Nagrota Assembly Constituency condoled the demise of Maharani Yashoraje Laxmi Singh a member of erstwhile Dogra rulers. Maharani was 72 year old and is survived by her husband, two sons Vikramditya Singh and Ajatshatru Singh, former Minister for Transport, Tourism and Information and sitting member of legislative council (MLC), and a daughter Jyotsna Singh.
The State BJP has condoled the sad demise of Maharani Yoshoraje Laxmi Singh, wife of former Sadar-e-Riyasat Dr. Karan Singh, who breathed her last yesterday at New Delhi.
In a condolence message State President Ashok Khajuria, has conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the Dogra Royal family saying that the party is with them in this hour of grief and sorrow and pray God for giving strength to the members of the family to bear the loss caused by the untimely death of Maharani Yoshoraje Laxmi Singh.
He said that the family commands very high respect and esteem among the Dogras and the death has cast a spell of gloom and sadness throughout the state. The ex-royal family had always concern and welfare of the common man upper most in their heart.
The sad demise of Maharani was also condoled by Dr. Nirmal Kamal, Shamsher Singh Manhas, Ramesh Arora, Lalit Moza, Kavinder Gupta, Yudhvir Sethi, S. Charanjit Singh Khalsa, Shiv Kumar Gupta, Sat Sharma (C.A.), J.R. Gupta, Rajesh Gupta, Ashwani Bali, Munish Sharma, Balbir Ram, Ch. Sukhnandan, N.D. Rajwal, Ch. Vikram Randhawa, chander Mohan Gupta, Ramesh Sharma, Vinay Gupta and Dinesh Gupta.
ammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today condoled the sad demise of Yashorajya Lakshmi, wife of former Sadar-e-Rashayat and senior Congress leader Dr. Karan Singh.
In a joint statement issued here today former Chief Minister and patron of the PDP Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti have condoled the demise of Yashorajya Lakshmi- who breathed her last at New Delhi on Sunday evening.
In their messages, PDP leaders expressed their heartfelt condolences to Dr. Karan Singh his sons Vikramaditya Singh and Ajatshatru Singh and prayed the Almighty for the eternal peace of departed soul. While expressing sympathy with the bereaved family, they prayed the Almighty to give courage of the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.


Party general secretary Daman Bhasin, Rangil Singh, Ved Mahajan, Sayeed Asgar Ali, Thakur Balbir Singh, Nirmal Singh, Baldev Singh Slathia and other senior leaders were present in the meeting.
The Minister for Rural development and Panchayats has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Mrs Yashorajaya Lakshmi, wife of former Union Minister and senior Congress leader, Dr. Karan Singh and mother of former Minister and MLC Mr. Ajatshatru Singh.
In a condolence message, Mr. Sagar said that Mrs Yashorajaya Lakshmi would be remembered long by the people of the state for the welfare of the people in general and for the upliftment of downtrodden in particular.
In a press release issued today, a condolence meeting was organized at the lawns of Hotel Hari Niwas, where large number of people from Nagrota constituency participated and offered their condolences. A two minutes of silence was also observed on the occasion and the gathering prayed for peace for departed soul. The speakers recalled the services of Late Maharani expecialy for the poor and people living in remote and far flung areas.
Prof. Saifuddin Soz, president J&K congress committee has expressed his shock and profound grief over the sad and untimely death of Smt Yasho Rajya Lakshmi. In a condolence message Soz has said that Smt. Rajya Lakshmi was an a superb human being and had great affection for the people of Jammu and Kashmir state. She was also involved in the welfare of the metally challenged children. Her contribution in social sector has been tremendous which would always be remembered. Soz also conveyed his condolences to Dr. Singh and other family members.
Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, (former minister) president Dogra Sadar Sabha presently out of state in a condolence message has expressed great shock and grief on the untimely sad demise of Maharani Yashoraje Laxmi Singh, a renowned social worker and a philanthropist, and wife of Maharaja Dr. Karan Singh, Patron Dogra Sadar Sabha. He paid his homage to the departed soul and prayed to Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul, courage and fortitude to the bereaved to bear this irreparable loss.
A condolence meeting was also held in Sabha Bhawan under the chairmanship of Prem Sagar Gupta, which was attended by large number of Sabha workers who expressed great shock and grief on her demise. They observed two minutes silence and paid due homage to the departed soul.
Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand has expressed profound grief and sorrow on the said demise of Maha Rani Yashorajya Lakshmi wife of Dr. Karan Singh, Member of Parliament and senior congress leader and mother of MLC, Mr. Ajatshatru Singh.
In his condolence message, the Deputy Chief Minister expressed sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul.
Hari Market Traders Association in a condolence meeting express deep shock and sorrow over the demise of Maharani Yasho Rajya Lakshmi. The condolence meeting was presided over by Rajesh Raina president of the association.
A condolence meeting was held in the premises of Dogra Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar on hearing the sad demise of Maharani Yashoraje Laxmi Singh at Delhi after a brief illness. She was the guiding to the women folk of the state. All the student and staff members prayed to the almighty god to rest the pious soul in peace and give courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
A condolence meting was held under the chairmanship of Ashok Sharma former legislator and Convenor ICELA J&K Chapter in which all the persons present in the condole the sad demise.
They prayed to God for eternal peace of the departed soul and to best courage to the family members of the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.
In the condolence meeting held at PCC HQ. here today, Congress leaders expressed their deep shock and sorrow over the passing away of Mahajan Yashoraje Laxmi Singh and also conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. The services of Late Maharani were recalled for various sections of society specially the downtrodden during past over five decades. They said that she was highly respected lady because of her care and concern for the common people of the state especially the women folk.
A meeting of Rajput Biradari of Tehsil Akhnoor, Dogra Sadar Sabha unit Akhnoor, Raj Tilak Divas Committee Akhnoor in a condolence meeting held under K.P. Singh expressed great shock and grief on the untimely sad demise of Maharani Yashoraje Laxmi Singh. The assembly observed two minutes silence and paid due homage to the departed soul, courage to the bereaved to bear this irreparable loss.
National conference senior leaders and workers in a condolence meeting chaired by provincial president of the party expressed shock over the sad demise of YashoRaje Singh. Addressing the meeting Gupta said the Maharani Ji was a great great social worker whose services will be remembered forever. She worked hard for the upliftment of the Women folk and was the Ist lady of the state when Dr. Karan Singh took over as Sadar-i-Riasat in the early fifties. She started Ladies Club and other works for orphans and destitute in the state. Two minutes silence was observed. Those who were present and addressed the meeting included Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Kashmir Singh, Brij Mohan Sharma, Sat Paul Lakotra, Rajesh Bakshi, Mohinder Gupta, TS Tony, Daljeet Sharma, Ram Savroop Sharma and others.
