Banihal, Feb 4: On 03.02.2026, during routine naka checking at T-Chowk, NH-44 Banihal, a police team from Banihal intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK03P-1946. The driver exhibited suspicious behavior on noticing the police presence, prompting the police team to immediately apprehend him.
During personal search of the driver, a contraband substance suspected to be heroin, weighing approximately 4–5 grams, was recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, FIR No. 16/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal. The accused has been identified as Irshad Ahmad Ganie, son of Ghulam Rasool Ganie, resident of Shehlipora, Achabal, Anantnag. Further investigation in the case is underway. Ramban Police appeals to the general public to remain vigilant and extend cooperation to law enforcement agencies in eradicating the menace of drug trafficking and substance abuse from society. |
