REASI, Feb 4: Continuing its firm action against drug peddling and illegal activities, District Police Reasi achieved significant success during routine naka checking at Ambica Chowk, Katra. Today, while conducting naka checking at Ambica Chowk, a police party at about 1350 hours, one person coming from Asia Chowk towards Ambica Chowk, carrying a white polythene bag, was noticed. On seeing the police party, the suspect attempted to flee from the spot but was swiftly chased and overpowered by the alert naka team.
Upon checking, a heroin-like substance weighing approximately 1.86 grams was recovered from the right pocket of the accused. Further search of the white polythene bag in his possession led to the recovery of two bottles of DMB JK Special Whiskey.
In this regard, FIR No. 46/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act and 223(a) BNS has been registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation is underway. The whole operation was carried out by SHO P/S Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran, JKPS. SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh-JKPS reiterated that District Police Reasi committed to curb the menace of drugs and illegal trade in the district and appeals to the public to cooperate with the police by sharing any information related to narcotics or unlawful activities. |
