MCM celebrates Mathematical creativity with 'Ganit Utsav 2026'

CHANDIGARH, Feb 4: The Postgraduate Department of Mathematics and Maths Club- 'Infinite Insight' of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women organised an inter-college event titled 'Ganit Utsav 2026'. Held under the aegis of MCM Vigyan Manch, the event was sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology and Renewable Energy, Chandigarh Administration. The event envisioned to foster analytical thinking, creativity, and appreciation for Mathematics among students.
Dr. Surinder Pal Singh Kainth, Chairperson, Department of Mathematics, Panjab University, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Kainth lauded the efforts of the Department of Mathematics in sensitising students about the importance and relevance of Mathematics through such innovative platforms.
The participating teams exhibited their prowess in competitions that included Power Point Presentation, Poetry, Declamation, Project on a Mathematical Model, and Sketch of a Mathematician. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation as over 120 students registered for it. The prize winners were awarded trophies, and participation certificates were given to all participants.
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma congratulated the winners and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the department and the Maths Club in organising a successful academic event that provided students with an opportunity to interact, collaborate, and showcase their talent while making the learning of Mathematics engaging and meaningful.
