Er Nazir Yatoo Flags Wildlife Crisis in Budgam, Seeks Immediate Govt Intervention
2/9/2026 10:28:34 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 9: Er. Nazir Yatoo has urged the government to take immediate action over the alarming lack of Wildlife Department infrastructure in District Budgam. He raised the issue with the Hon'ble Minister for Forest, Ecology & Environment, Mr. Javed Ahmed Rana, pointing out that there is no Wildlife Office in either Chadoora or Budgam, despite the district comprising around 530 villages. Er. Yatoo highlighted that the entire district is currently being managed by only three permanent wildlife officials with just one vehicle, terming the situation grossly inadequate and risky. He expressed grave concern over the increasing incidents of human-wildlife conflict, stating that several human lives have already been lost and wild animals are frequently entering villages, creating fear and insecurity among residents. Taking cognizance of the matter, Hon'ble Minister Javed Ahmed Rana assured that necessary steps will be taken to address the issue and strengthen wildlife management in District Budgam. Er. Nazir Yatoo has appealed to all five Hon'ble legislators of District Budgam to collectively raise this serious public safety issue in the Assembly and ensure timely intervention.
