Early Times Report NEW DELHI, Feb 11: Praveen Kumar, Managing Director, Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), led a high-level field visit and on-site inspection of key Gati Shakti Multimodal Cargo Terminals (GCTs) along the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) on 10.02.2026 (Tuesday). The inspection was conducted onboard a railcar, enabling close and real-time assessment of the corridor section and terminal infrastructure. The visit aimed at reviewing ground-level execution, identifying operational and infrastructure bottlenecks, and accelerating the commissioning of GCTs to strengthen India's trade and logistics ecosystem under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan. During the inspection, the Managing Director held detailed interactions with GCT operators to assess construction progress, infrastructure readiness, operational preparedness, and support required for early commissioning. Shri Praveen Kumar reviewed the status of proposed and ongoing Gati Shakti terminals across multiple locations and issued clear directions to expedite infrastructure and construction works. He emphasized the need for timely resolution of technical, administrative, and coordination-related issues to ensure seamless logistics services for industries, exporters, and traders. The inspection was attended by senior DFCCIL officials including Sh. Shobhit Bhatnagar, Director (OP&BD); Sh. Anurag Sharma, Director (Infra); and Shri Manish Kumar Awasthi, Executive Director (Infra). Key Officers from the Corporate Office, including S.P. Verma, GGM (BD & BA); Prashant Kumar, GGM (Mechanical); Vijay Kumar, JGM (Operations); Chandra Shekhar, DGM (BD), and Rakesh Kr. AM/OP also accompanied the team. Officers from field units, led by Sh. Anurag Yadav, CGM (Noida), along with Shripal Yadav, Dy. CPM (S&T), Noida; Sanjay Gupta, Dy. CPM (Civil); and Balbir Lamba, JGM (Mech), Jaipur, and other senior officials from Civil, Electrical, S&T, and Operations departments of Noida and Jaipur Units, were present during the inspection. Special emphasis was laid on the commissioning of Gati Shakti terminals at New Dharuhera, New Station planned between New Dharuhera & New Tauru near Salarpur Industrial area and New Rewari in Haryana, New Malikpur, and New Sakhun in Rajasthan. Road-rail connectivity and integration with existing railway infrastructure were reviewed in detail. Officials highlighted that early commissioning of these terminals would significantly enhance multimodal integration, reduce logistics costs, shorten transit time, and increase the modal share of railways through GCTs and innovative services such as Trucks on Train (ToT) and High-Speed Small Cargo services-thereby strengthening domestic trade and exports. Senior DFCCIL officials assured that all technical, administrative, and land-related issues observed during the inspection would be resolved on priority through close coordination with State Governments and Central agencies. Clear directions were issued to complete all proposed Gati Shakti terminals within stipulated timelines, underscoring that timely commissioning would play a vital role in improving India's logistics efficiency and global competitiveness, while reinforcing DFCCIL's commitment to strengthening national logistics infrastructure through the Dedicated Freight Corridors. |
