| 3 Mega projects costing Rs 85.37 Cr in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report Srinagar May 26 Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA), has undertaken three mega projects worth Rs 85.37 Crore to develop the infrastructure in the North Kashmir district of Baramulla, official sources said today. Sources said ERA is presently working on three big projects in Sopore and Rafiabad constituencies in Baramulla district with a total mileage of about 100 km at a total cost of Rs 85.37 Crore. The ambitious projects include the road from Sangrama to Sopore presently being macadamized would be completed during June 2009, besides under PMGSY, three roads in Sopore and Rafiabad constituencies, at a total cost of Rs 13.75 crore with a road length of 31 km, are also being constructed in the twin constituencies. ‘These works would be completed in September-October 2009 and November 2010 respectively, sources said adding that Rural Development Department has completed the construction on 486 IAY (Indira Awas Yojna) units and upgraded 349 units. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 1000 poor patients given free medcine by army Srinagar May 26 About one thousand patients, including women and children, were provided free treatment and medicine at a medical camp organised by Army in a remote village in south Kashmir. Defence spokesperson said that a free medical camp was organised on Monday at village Phraslun near Pahalgam, about 110 km from for the people of far flung and remote areas. During the day-long camp, about 1000 patients, including 300 women and as many children, were treated by a team of Army and civil doctors.. Spokesman said the visitors were also informed the villagers about the importance of health education on personal hygiene, small family norms, nutrition maternal and child health. The defence authorities in the Kashmir valley had been organising such medical and other camps in the post also where people from inaccessible areas came and got benefits. They are also holding veterinary camps where the livestock of the farmers were being treated and given free medicine.
