GDC Nagrota conducts 10 day embroidery workshop

JAMMU, Feb 13: Skill, Innovation and Career Counselling cell of Govt degree college Nagrota, under its skill development initiative organised 10 days Workshop from 02.02.2026 to 12.02.2026. The workshop aimed to promote traditional craft skills, creativity and self employment among students. It will also provide market relevant training, bridging skill gaps and fostering entrepreneurship to boost productivity and self reliance. The Workshop was inaugurated by the Principal of the College Prof. Anjali Mahajan. The resource persons of the Workshop were Mrs. Ritu Gupta and Mr.Arun Kumar .The workshop was organised in collaboration with Dogre Wellwisher Foundation, an organisation registered with Directorate of Handicrafts J&K and Ministry of Textiles , Government of India. The Workshop provided a platform to the participants to gain hands-on experience in chainstich, zardozi and Aari Work. A large number of students including male students enthusiastically participated in the Workshop and showcased their skill and creativity through beautifully curated samples. The focus was also on transition of the skill into entrepreneurial ventures. Principal of the College, Prof. Anjali Mahajan in her address to the students emphasized the importance of preserving indigenous art forms and encouraged skill based learning among youth. students
