| Udhampur observes peaceful bandh | | | Sarita Jamwal Udhampur May 26- To condemn the Vienna incident and the death of Sant Rama Nand, the bandh call given by Guru Ravi Dass Sabha evoked mixed response today. Udhampur observed a peaceful partial bandh today. Majority of shops remained closed in some markets, however, the response was poor in other areas .There was no impact of bandh call in Banks and other government institutions and traffic was playing normally on roads . The protesters were verbally appealing local businessmen’s to close their shops. Condemning the violent incident that took place at a Gurudwara in Vienna, the followers of the Guri Dass Sabha Udhampur staged a protest near Ravi Dass temple demanding immediate action against the culprits for firing at Sant Niranajan Dass and Sant Ramanand. Speaking on occasion Thakur Dass President Ravi Dass Sabha condemned the Vinena incident terming it as a planned move to disturb the growth of their sect. Bandh remain peaceful and there was no report of violent incident from any part . Police was deployed in full strength to avoid any untoward incident keeping in view the prevailing tension in neighboring Punjab state.
