Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Feb 13: A special Financial Literacy Week programme and Digital Life Certificate (DLC) generation drive for Divyangjans and senior citizens was organized today at Divyang Seva Ashram, Udhampur, under the State Action Plan for Senior Citizens (SAPSrC). The programme was held under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Ms. Saloni Rai (IAS), and supervision of District Social Welfare Officer, Ms. Kanika Gupta (JKAS). The event was conducted by the Department of Social Welfare in collaboration with the State Bank of India, aiming to promote financial awareness and improve banking accessibility for specially abled persons and elderly citizens. A large number of Divyangjans and senior citizens from across the district participated and benefited from the awareness drive. Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, Udhampur, Sh. Babu Ram welcomed the participants and highlighted various welfare schemes being implemented for the upliftment of poor, specially abled persons and senior citizens. A representative from the Reserve Bank of India educated attendees about RBI initiatives designed to make banking easier and safer for the common public, particularly Divyangjans. Participants were also sensitized about cyber safety and measures to protect themselves from financial fraud. Lead District Bank Manager, Udhampur, Sh. Vikram Singh, elaborated on key financial inclusion schemes such as Atal Pension Yojana (APY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), and other facilities available to Divyangjans under bank accessibility guidelines. He appreciated the active participation of beneficiaries. During the programme, on-the-spot Digital Life Certificates of beneficiaries under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) were generated by the Social Welfare Department staff. |
