The special enforcement drive was conducted on the directions of SSP Doda, Shri Sandeep Mehta, JKPS, and was led by SHO Police Station Doda, along with officers and officials of the Traffic Wing under DySP Traffic Doda. During the operation, more than 50 violators were booked for various offences including overloading, operating without valid documents, route permit violations, and non-compliance with prescribed safety norms, and several e-rickshaws were seized under relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. The drive aimed at ensuring road safety, smooth traffic flow, safeguarding commuters and pedestrians, preventing road mishaps, and enforcing strict compliance with traffic regulations. Special focus was laid on curbing the menace of unauthorized and unsafe e-rickshaw operations, which often lead to traffic congestion and increased risk of road accidents. SSP Doda reiterated that such enforcement drives will continue and warned violators of strict legal action. He appealed to all vehicle owners and drivers to strictly adhere to traffic rules and cooperate with the police in maintaining discipline and safety on roads. Legal action will be taken against those owners of e-rickshaws/e-autos who provide their vehicles to the minors and even against the guardians of minors driving these rickshaws, he cautioned. |
