| Sadhotra greets people on commencement of holy Ramadan | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 19: National Conference Additional General Secretary and former minister Mr Ajay Kumar Sadhotra on today greeted the people on the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan and prayed for peace, tranquility and further strengthening of the pluralistic character of Jammu and Kashmir. In his message, Mr Sadhotra said Ramadan is a sacred period of self- discipline and compassion, observed with deep devotion and humility by the Muslim community across the world. Extending his warm wishes to the Muslim brethren, Mr Sadhotra expressed hope that the month-long fasting, prayers and acts of charity would bring spiritual fulfilment and renewed hope to families across the region. Praying for sustained peace and tranquility, Mr Sadhotra said Jammu and Kashmir has historically been known for its composite culture and pluralistic ethos. He expressed hope that the spirit of Ramadan would further reinforce this inclusive character and help deepen harmony among diverse communities. "The holy month should serve as a reminder of our shared values and collective aspirations for peace, progress and unity," he said. The National Conference Addl General Secretary hoped that the government would ensure regulated and uninterrupted supply of essential services, particularly electricity and safe drinking water, during the holy month so that devotees are able to observe prayers and fasting without inconvenience. He said facilitating smooth arrangements during Ramadan is a collective responsibility of the administration. Mr Sadhotra also prayed for stability, prosperity and enduring communal harmony among the people across Jammu and Kashmir . He expressed confidence that the observance of Ramadan would inspire people to uphold the principles of mutual respect, which form the cornerstone of Jammu and Kashmir's rich and pluralistic heritage. |
